NORMA “JUANITA” WEESE ALTIERI, age 88 years, a resident of Elkins, WV departed this life late Friday evening, January 11, 2008 at the United Hospital Center at Clarksburg, WV.
She was born Friday, November 14, 1919 at Beverly, WV a daughter of the late Grover Weese and Dovie Kerens Weese. On September 23, 1941 at Coalton, WV she was married to Antonio Paul “Tim” Altieri who preceded her in death March 14, 1997. Surviving are one son, Antonio Paul “Tony” Altieri, II and wife Mary Beth, Morgantown; two brothers, Richard Weese, Springfield; Harold Weese and wife Erda, Elkins; two sisters, Ann Morrone and husband Sam, Fairmont; Lou Kimelblot and husband, Sherm, CA; one granddaughter, Vincenza Marie Altieri, one step grandson, Jake Hare, one step granddaughter, Catherine Marie Hare, all of Morgantown.
Preceding her in death are two brothers, Truman and Arnold Weese and two sisters, Cleo Keller and Alma Louise Weese.
She was a graduate of Beverly High School with the Class of 1937 and was a graduate of the Davis Memorial Hospital School of Nursing with a degree as a Registered Nurse. She was a graduate of West Virginia University, where she earned her Nurse Anesthetist Degree. She had worked for the former Memorial General Hospital and the Davis Memorial Hospital, retiring in 1992 at seventy-two years of age. She was a homemaker and a member of the Saint Brendan Catholic Church.
The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Elkins from 5 to 8 PM, Tuesday. On Tuesday at 7 PM, at the funeral home, a wake service will be recited by the Sister Teresa Reddington CSJ. On Wednesday, January 16, 2008, Mrs. Altieri will be moved to the Saint Brendan Catholic Church where the Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM. Reverend Giles LeVasseur will be the Presider and interment will follow at the Saint Brendan Cemetery at Elkins, WV. The family suggests that expressions of sympathy be in the form of contributions to the Macular Degeneration Foundation, Appalachian Center for Vision Rehabilitation, West Virginia University Eye Institute, P.O.
