| | | JOSEPHINE ELIZABETH SAINATO ALTIERI, age 88 years, a former resident of Coalton, WV and more recently a resident of the Elkins Regional Convalescent Center at Elkins, WV departed this life early Wednesday morning, January 2, 2008 at the Center.
She was born Wednesday, November 19, 1919 at Harding, WV a daughter of the late Joseph Sainato and Mary Teresa Sainato. On August 26, 1939 at Staunton, VA she was married to Julius John Altieri, who preceded her in death October 18, 1977. Surviving are two daughters, Patricia A. Everett and husband Gerard, Beverly; Rose Marie Miracle and husband Mark, Clarington, OH; one sister, Pauline Sainato, Staunton, VA; three grandchildren, Todd Everett and wife Kati, Charlotte, NC; Trevor Lupi and Ryan Lupi, both of Columbus, OH; three great grandchildren, Jake and Delaney Everett, both of Charlotte, NC; Sofia Lupi, Columbus, OH; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death are three brothers, Nick, Frank and Rocco Sainato; and two sisters, Mary Concetta Sainato and Katherine Stark.
Josephine attended the schools of Harding, WV was a homemaker and retired as a cook at the Coalton 12 Year School. She was a member of the Saint Patrick’s Catholic Church.
The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Elkins from 6 to 8 PM, Friday. On Friday at 7 PM at the funeral home, a wake service will be recited by the Very Reverend Donald X. Higgs, VF. On Saturday, January 5, 2008, Mrs. Altieri will be moved to the Saint Patrick’s Catholic Church at Coalton, WV where the Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM. The Very Reverend Donald X. Higgs, VF will be the Presider and interment will follow at the Saint Brendan Cemetery at Elkins, WV.
