| | | SHELBY JEAN TURNER ALT, age 67 years, a resident of Panorama Way, Beverly, WV departed this life Saturday morning, September 1, 2007 at her home.
She was born Monday, January 29, 1940 at Petersburg, WV a daughter of Nellie G. Borror Turner, who survives at Petersburg. On February 3, 1963, she was married to Dennis C. Alt, who survives. They had celebrated forty-four years of marriage. Also surviving is one son, Barry T. Alt, Indianapolis, IN; and his children, Tyler and Denver Alt; one daughter, Mendy G. Marshall and husband Chuck, Poca; and their son, Lucas Marshall; three brothers, Randall Turner and wife Linda and Kelly Turner and wife Debbie, all of Petersburg; Gregory Turner and wife Marcia, Sterling, VA; five sisters, Brenda Brewer and Blondena Turner, both of Petersburg; Sarah Willie and husband Doug, Herndon, VA; Margie Judy and husband David, Upper Tract; Marsha Lahman and husband Terry, Lahmansville; one sister in law, Darlene Turner, Petersburg and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death is her father, Otha Turner, two brothers, O. Dwayne and David Turner.
She was a graduate of Petersburg High School with the Class of 1958 and had worked as a Secretary in the Office of Special Education for the Randolph County Board of Education, retiring in 2003 with twenty-three years of service. She was a member of the Beverly Woman’s Club, the Randolph County Retired School Employees and the Woodford Memorial United Methodist Church. She enjoyed spending time at her lake home and traveling.
The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Elkins from 5 to 8 PM Monday. Final Rites will be conducted at the funeral home chapel, Tuesday, September 4, 2007 at 11 AM. The Reverend Doctor William E. Calhoun will officiate and interment will follow at 1 PM, Tuesday at the Alt Family Cemetery at Landes, WV. The family suggests that expressions of sympathy be in the form of contributions to the American Cancer Society, Atlanta Hope Lodge, 1552 Shoup Court, Decatur, GA 30033 or to Hospice Care Corporation, P.
