Letchworth Funeral Home is located at 101 W. 7th Street in the rural farming town of Scotland Neck in Halifax County. It is family owned by Buddy and Susan Letchworth. The first funeral held was independently done by Buddy Letchworth on May 5, 1996 without a funeral home. Seeing the need was here for a funeral home, and the community being behind us, we began working toward building the funeral home in July 1996. After 14 months of hard work, the funeral home was completed, and we held open house on May 4, 1997.

Buddy has been in the funeral business since 1973. He was born in the small fishing village of Davis on the coast of North Carolina. Upon moving to Scotland Neck in 1993, he was the manager of Scotland Neck Branch Funeral Home until 1995. Buddy is a member of the North Carolina Funeral Directors Association, the National Funeral Directors Association, the Scotland Neck Masonic Lodge Number 689, member of the New Bern Valley Scottish Rite, member of the Sudan Temple, past president of the Scotland Neck Kiwanis Club, and member of the Roanoke Valley Chamber of Commerce.

Buddy is the father of three sons, Trey, Davis, and Hunter.
