  VIEW/SEND CONDOLENCES
 
Melvina L. Coleman, age 81, of Thomson, Illinois, died Thursday, October 29, 2009, at Mercy Medical Center South, Clinton, Iowa. Cremation rites will be accorded. A memorial service will be held 3:00 p.m., Saturday, November 7, 2009 at the Law-Jones Funeral Home, Thomson. Visitation will be held from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. Saturday, prior to the service.

Melvina was born on October 23, 1928, the daughter of Ira and Zella (Gager) Hizey in Galesburg, Kansas. She married John E. Coleman on March 9, 1946 in Galena, Kansas. Melvina was a homemaker who loved taking care of her family. She enjoyed flower gardening and reading, especially history and the Bible. Most of all, Melvina cherished spending time with her family and friends.

Melvina will be dearly missed by her husband, John of Riverview; a son, John E. (Marilyn) Coleman, Jr. of Bridgeview, Illinois; two daughters, Cassondra (Henry) Rejlek of Willow Springs, Illinois and Cheri Tomkins of Palos Hills, Illinois; three grandchildren, Henry Joshua Rejlek, Daniel Tomkins and Corinne Tomkins; and several cousins.

Melvina was preceded in death by her parents; and one daughter, Celeste Waters.
