Oliver S. Hanson, Jr., age 64, of Hanover, Illinois, passed away on Thursday, October 1, 2009 at Midwest Medical Center, Galena, Illinois. A Funeral Service will be held at 12:00 p.m. noon Friday, October 9, 2009 at the Law-Jones Funeral Home in Hanover. Burial will take place in Evergreen Cemetery, Hanover. Visitation will be 10:00 a.m. till noon, prior to the service at the funeral home.

Ollie was born October 29, 1944 in Tucumcari, New Mexico to Oliver S. and Hazel (LaShelle) Hanson, Sr.. Oliver graduated from Savanna High School, Class of 1963. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War as a medical supply specialist and stock clerk, receiving the National Defense Service Medal and was honorably discharged in July of 1968. On June 20, 1987 he married Marcia J. (Duffy) Nolan.

Junior (as he was called by family and friends) worked for the Milwaukee Railroad, Soo Railroad, CP, and I&M RailLink as a clerk, until his retirement in February 2000.

Ollie loved his family, the Milwaukee Brewers, the Green Bay Packers, country music and his special times with his wife.

Ollie is survived by his wife Marcia; two sons, Michael and Nikole Hanson and Robert and Mary Nolan; two daughters, Andrea Hanson, and Tricia Brown and Scott Almquist; grandchildren, Andrew and Sandra Nolan, Barry and Gen Bowlby, Brandon and Tammi Bowlby, Alicia and Jordon Ottman, Beau Bowlby, Bradley Nolan, Ashley Condon, Hailey Bartisnofski, Tori and Katherine Groezinger, Kaitlin Watson, Zachary Nolan, and Jakob Hanson; great grandchildren, Patrick Bowlby, Adreanna Hobbs, and soon-to-be Liam Bowlby, sister-in-law, Janice Foltz and her family, niece Angela VanKampen and Andrew; and very special friends, Lynn and Patricia Miller and their family.

Ollie is preceded to the Pearly Gates by his parents; Marcia’s parents, John and Marcella Duffy; brothers, Jack Foltz and Robert Hanson, and a sister, Ramona Rapp, (also his special babies “Molly and Patches, the cats).

The family would like to thank Dr. Ronald Schope, Dr. Ronald Iverson, Dr. Michael Scott and their nurses for all the years of exceptional care given to Ollie.
