Ilene Rose Hill, age 84, of Elizabeth, Illinois passed away on Saturday, June 6, 2009, at the Elizabeth Nursing Home, Elizabeth. Cremation rites have been accorded. Ilene was born on November 5, 1924, the daughter of Phillip and Rosena (Saam) Altfillisch in Elizabeth Township, Jo Daviess County, Illinois. She attended Scales Mound High School and graduated with the Class of 1943. Ilene married Clinton Roberts who preceded her in death. Ilene married Donald Francis Hill, August 26, 1974 and became a farm wife. She enjoyed driving the tractors and the farming. She also loved the animals, especially the horses. Ilene worked for the Ben Franklin Store in Galena, Illinois for nineteen years. She was a member of the St. Mary Catholic Church in Elizabeth for many years. She cherished the time she spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Ilene will be dearly missed by her husband, Donald; her son, Larry Edward (Pam) Roberts of Lena, Illinois; five grandchildren, Tina (Jeff) Abott, Amy Roberts, Michele (Glen) Scharpf, Todd (Monica) Sanders, and Rebecca Sanders; twelve great grandchildren, Jessica, Blake, Bruce, Katherine, Lucas, and Travis Scharpf, Ashley Kennedy, Jesse James Jones, Ava Abbott, Nevaeh Roberts, Makayla and Mylee Sanders; five great-great grandchildren, Makayla, Jake, Jazmine and Alexis Scharpf and Ayden Furlong; a brother, Sylvester Altfillisch, Wisconsin; six sisters in-law, Geneva (Carl) Lantau of Savanna, Illinois, Rose Mary Hellstern of Woodstock, Illinois, Elmeda Bohnsack of Elizabeth, Ilene (Joe) Lamm of Stockton, Illinois, Barbara (Tom) Fitzsimmons of Modesto, California, and Delores Jakubek of Scottsdale, Arizona; and a brother in-law, James Everts of Madison, Wisconsin. Ilene is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Clinton; daughter, Suzanne Jean (Roberts) Sanders; three brothers, Charlie in infancy, Melvin, and Cleland; and sister in-law, Ema Lou Altfillisch.
