  VIEW/SEND CONDOLENCES

Amber Renea Sudbrock
Amber R. Sudbrock was born the daughter of Brian and Beth Sudbrock in Des Moines, Iowa on July 11, 1990 and died of a sudden illness at Iowa University Hospitals in Iowa City, Iowa on January 17, 2009. Amber was 18 years, 6 months and 6 days old.
Amber graduated from the West Central Valley High School in 2008, and was enrolled in the Mercy Nurses College working towards a degree as a paramedic specialist at the time of her death. She hoped to become a Flight Paramedic on Mercy One someday. While in high school Amber was very active with the school plays such as “Get Smart”, “Little Shop of Horrors” to name a few. She was a member of the flag drill team for the marching band. Amber loved to draw cartoon characters and paint watercolors. She was an avid reader and enjoyed adventure and crime fighter novels. Amber loved to go camping with her family and sit around the campfire at night. Amber’s Grandpa Hansen took her skeet shooting one time about 5 years ago and ever since she has been involved in skeet shooting contests winning numerous trophies and medals at the Iowa Summer and Winter Games as well as Iowa State DNR skeet contests. Amber met the “love of her life”, Cameron Hester, who also was a skeet shooter at all of the skeet events. Amber and Cameron were planning their future together. Amber joined the Jr. EMS program with the Dexter Fire and Rescue and upon becoming 18 years old joined the Dexter Fire Dept. as a full member and an EMT– B level. Amber loved going on EMS calls with the rescue and used her special compassion to be able to help people. She was particularly drawn to children, and enjoyed babysitting for local children. Amber often spent her free time doing inventory of the rescue truck, ordering items and restocking them so the squad was ready when a call came in.
Amber is survived by her parents Brian and Beth Sudbrock of Dexter; brother Ryan Sudbrock of Dexter; the love of her life Cameron Hester of Panora; paternal grandparents Larry and Linda Sudbrock of Dexter; maternal grandparents Daniel and Carol Hansen of Des Moines and Marirose Weaver of Des Moines; many aunts, uncles and cousins.

In Loving Memory

Twenty-Third Psalm

The Lord is my shepherd;
I shall not want.
He maketh me to lie down in
green pastures.
He leadeth me beside the still waters.
He restoreth my soul;
he leadeth me in the paths of
righteousness for His name’s sake.
Yea, though I walk through
the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil; for Thou art with me.
Thy rod and thy staff, they comfort me.
Thou preparest a table before me
in the presence of mine enemies.
Thou anointest my head with oil,
my cup runneth over.
Surely goodness and mercy
shall follow me all the days of my life;
and I shall dwell
in the house of the Lord forever..
