| | | Opal May Ammann was born on July 1, 1919 to Edward and Mabel (Wilson) Ammann in Cedar Township, Martin County, Minnesota. She attended and later was a 1937 graduate of Triumph High School. On February 23, 1937, she was united in marriage to Carl Flohrs at the Methodist Parsonage in Sherburn, Minnesota. After their marriage, they farmed in Galena Township, rural Ormsby, until moving into Trimont, where they operated a fishing bait business out of their home. Opal has been a resident of the Trimont Health Care Center since September 16, 1996. Carl died on May 14, 1998. Opal was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Galena Township and itÂ’s ladies aid where she held various church offices. She also belonged to the Embroidery Club in Trimont and the Garden Club in Ormsby. Opal hobbies were embroidering, crocheting, gardening, houseplants, puzzles, playing the piano, dancing and bowling. Along with her husband, Carl, Opal enjoyed fishing Big Twin Lake and Cedar Lake.
On Monday morning, July 6, 2009, Opal died at Trimont Health Care Center in Trimont, Minnesota at the age of ninety years.
Survivors include her sons, Eugene (Jolene) Flohrs of Sherburn, Leslie (Marcia) Flohrs of rural Ormsby, Larry Flohrs and Bradford (Melissa) Flohrs both of Trimont; son-in-law, Byron Dahle of Edina, Minnesota; fifteen grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews and other relatives.
Opal is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Carl; daughter, Carol Dahle; brothers, Russell and Leonard Ammann and other relatives.
Interment will be in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Galena Township, rural Ormsby, Minnesota.
