Gladys Norma Gulden was born on October 1, 1926 to Paul and Marie (Daleske) Gulden on the family farm in Manyaska Township, Martin County, Minnesota. She attended and later was a 1946 Graduate of Welcome High School. Gladys then was employed at the Railway Motors in Fairmont. On June 28, 1949 she was united in marriage to Gordon Lee Halvorson in Dunnell, Minnesota. After their marriage they took over Halvorson Produce and operated for many years. Gladys was then employed at the Welcome Creamery, WADCO in Estherville, Huntley’s Café in Ceylon, the Top Spot Cafe in Ceylon for over twenty years which they owned and operated and did catering at Glasstite in Dunnell and then worked in the kitchen at the Fairmont High School until retiring and then spending time at their home on Clear Lake. She was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Ceylon. Gladys greatly enjoyed spending time with her family, baking, cooking, fishing and gardening.

On Saturday evening, April 18, 2009, Gladys died at Lutz Wing of the Fairmont Medical Center in Fairmont, Minnesota at the age of eighty-two years.

Gladys is survived by her three children; Gail (Lynn) Anderson of rural Ceylon, Minnesota, Leigh (Jim) Simon of Macon, Missouri and Kevin (Marna) Halvorson of Lakeville, Minnesota; seven grandchildren, Jared (Michele) Anderson of Sherburn, Justin (Kris) Anderson of Lake Crystal, Minnesota, Thea (John) Kirchmeyer of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, Chris (Andria) Simon of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, Andrew (Brooke) Halvorson of Prior Lake, Minnesota, Tyler and Brittney Paskey of Lakeville; nine great-grandchildren, Parker, Payton and Paige Anderson of Sherburn, Logan and Reese Anderson of Lake Crystal, Hailey and Nickolas Kirchmeyer of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, Jackson and Ethan Halvorson of Prior Lake; sister, Dorothy Petersen of Welcome, Minnesota; brother, Conrad Gulden of Rosemount, Minnesota; sister-in-law, Marianne Halvorson of Bloomington, Indiana; several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Gladys is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Gordon Halvorson on September 22, 2002; daughter, Gwen Halvorson; sisters, Myrna (Thomas) Loe and Grace (Donald) Maday; brother-in-law, Donald Petersen and other relatives and friends.
