| | | Vivian Mable Whitehead was born on March 7, 1912 to Mortimer and Agnes (Page) Whitehead at Stanberry, Missouri. At an young age, Vivian moved with her family to a farm in Jay Township, rural Sherburn, Minnesota. She attended and later was a 1930 Graduate of Sherburn-Dunnell High School. On May 29, 1932 she was united in marriage to Gordon “Bud” Cooper at Sioux Falls, South Dakota. After their marriage they lived in Sherburn where together they operated a Real estate office. They also greatly enjoyed wintering in Weslaco, Texas for over thirty years. Gordon died on January 12, 1980. She later moved to make her home at Temperance Lake Ridge Assisted Living where she participated in bingo and watching movies. Vivian was a member of First Congregational United Church of Christ in Sherburn where she was a member of it’s ladies aid and church quilting. She was very devoted to her family and enjoyed oil painting, making pot holders and placemats. She belonged to the travel class and was active in the cub scouts in her younger years.
On Tuesday morning, April 7, 2009, Vivian died at Temperance Lake Ridge Assisted Living in Sherburn, Minnesota at the age of ninety-seven years.
Vivian is survived by her two daughters, Carol (Donn) Spotts of St. James City, Florida and Jenne (Dallas) Dorr of Fairmont, Minnesota; twelve grandchildren; twenty-seven great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Charlotte Cooper of rural Sherburn, Minnesota; sister, Faye Evjen of Sherburn, Minnesota; sisters-in-law, Althea Whitehead of Sherburn, Minnesota, Helen Whitehead of Fairmont, Minnesota and Lavina Waswo of Mankato, Minnesota; nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Vivian is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Gordon Coooper; son, Gerald “Jerry” Cooper; one great-grandson, Dalton and five brothers and other relatives
Inurnment will be in the Sherburn Cemetery in Sherburn, Minnesota.
