Clara Mary Ehlert was born August 12, 1914 to Ernest and Alma (Gellert) Ehlert in Tenhassen Township, Martin County, Minnesota. She was baptized on August 30, 1914 and later confirmed on April 1, 1928 both at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Wilbert, Minnesota. She received her education at St. Paul’s Parochial School in Wilbert. On November 10, 1935, she was united in marriage to Leroy Hartung at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Wilbert, Minnesota. After their marriage they farmed in Fraser Township for thirty years. Clara was employed for Madsen’s Grocery Store in the bakery department in Fairmont for ten years. In July of 1983 they moved to Arizona and later moved back to Fairmont on April 4, 1998. Leroy died on May 14, 2000. Clara has been a resident of the Lutz Wing of Fairmont Medical Center. Clara was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Fairmont and a former member of Zion Lutheran Church in Fraser Township, it’s ladies aid and was a Sunday School Teacher. She greatly enjoyed traveling, playing all kinds of cards games and going to Fairmont Senior Citizens. Clara died on Monday morning, March 23, 2009 at the Lutz Wing of the Fairmont Medical Center in Fairmont, Minnesota at the age of ninety-four years. Survivors include, daughter, Myla Ringer and husband, Roger, of Appache Junction, Arizona; daughter-in-law, Betty Krautkramer of Ocala, Florida; seven grandchildren, Sheri LaRue and husband, Charlie, of Ocala, Florida, Danny Hartung of Fairmont, David Hartung and wife, Dawn, of rural Welcome, Timothy Bremer and wife, Anne, of Omaha, Nebraska, Deborah Watkins and husband, Dan, of Littleton, Colorado, Denise Sidebottom of Littleton, Colorado, Jeffrey Bremer of Denver, Colorado; twelve great-grandchildren;five great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Alfred Ehlert and wife, Adelia, of Fairmont and Ernest Ehlert of Fairmont; sisters, Emily Eckmann and Velma Boesch both of Fairmont, Minnesota; sisters-in-law, Vera Kellen of Fairmont and Bernice Boell and husband, Bill, of Jackson, Minnesota, Iola Hartung of San Diego, California; many nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends. Clara was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Leroy; son, Dennis Hartung; great-grandson, Timothy Walter Bremer; two sisters; a brother; mother and father-in-law, Harry and Mary Hartung; son-in-law, Walt Bremer; grandson-in-law, Larry Sidebottom and other relatives. Inurnment will be in Fairview Memorial Park in Fairmont, Minnesota.
