Velma Minerva Augusta Mowery was born May 13, 1916 to Harry and Mathilda (Isler) Mowery in Fairmont, Minnesota. She received her education in Sherburn Public School. Velma then was employed for various families in Sherburn caring for their children. On June 30, 1934, she was united in marriage to Matt Schroedel at Sherburn, Minnesota. After their marriage, they lived in Sherburn. Velma ws employed at various cafes in Sherburn, such as Giesers, Hartwigs and most recently the Cup “N’ Saucer. Matt died on November 8, 1989. Velma moved to Jackson in 1991 and in 2005 she moved to the Pines in Jackson. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Sherburn, where she taught Sunday School and Bible School. She loved her Lord, her family, her friends, her caregivers and all the brids and animals. Velma loved feeding them all. Velma died on Tuesday evening, January 2o, 2008, at Good Samaritan Society in Jackson, Minnesota, at the age of ninety-two years.   Survivors include her two children, son, Gerald Schroedel and wife, Gwen, of Waukon, Iowa and daughter, Judith Sinn and Doug DeWall of Jackson, Minnesota; three grandchildren, Tamara and Bevo Philby of Red Oak, Iowa, Larry Troendle of Waukon, Iowa and Jason DeWall of Jackson, Minnesota; three great-grandchildren, Zachary Troendle, Dalon Troendle and Kaylee Philby; sister-in-law, Marjorie Mowery of Fairmont, Minnesota; niece, Nancy Schwager and her husband, Bruce of Sherburn, Minnesota and nephew, Brian Mowery and wife, Peggy, of Fairmont, Minnesota and other relatives and friends.   Velma was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Matt Schroedel; infant son, James; granddaughter, Paula Troendle; brothers, Kenneth “Bud” Mowery and John Mowery; and other relatives. Interment will be in the Sherburn Cemetery in Sherburn, Minnesota.
