| | | Alma Ida Anna Brockmann was born August 26, 1917 to Henry and Bertha (Ebel) Brockmann on a farm in Silver Lake Township, south of Fairmont, Minnesota. She was the oldest of six children, and attended country school District #85. At about age 19, she moved with the family to a farm northwest of Sherburn. She was married to Lavern Waldee on January 23, 1942, and they had three children. Early in their marriage they farmed near Dunnell, but most of their farming years they lived north of Sherburn. They retired in 1973 and moved to their home in Sherburn, where Lavern died on Novenber 17, 1985 and Alma continued to live there until two weeks before her death, struggling in the last few years with Congestive Heart Failure. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Sherburn, and was active in Senior Lutherans as long as she was able. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, quilting, baking, and yard work. She especially enjoyed spending time with family and enjoyed attending the school functions of her grandkids. As she became more home-bound, she especially enjoyed watching the birds at the feeders outside her kitchen window.
