  VIEW/SEND CONDOLENCES

Geraldine Clarice Pope was born June 14, 1923, to Ted and Bertha (Olson) Pope in Odin, Minnesota.  She grew up in Trimont and attended school there.  She married Charles Packard in 1941.  They lived in Welcome for many years. Charles was a barber there and in Ceylon, and a partner in Finke and Packard Livestock.  Charles died in March of 1964.  Ging was employed at Leverson Furniture in Odin for a short time.  She married Winfield (Windy) Johnson in September of 1965.  They farmed on the south shore of Fox Lake for several years until moving to Arizona in 1976.  Winfield died in 1993.  Geraldine returned to Minnesota in 2003 and lived in Trimont and Sherburn until her death. While on the farm Ging and Windy loved to have picnics and entertain relatives and friends with great grilled steaks (Windy had a secret marinade!).  Ging loved the lake and fishing off the dock for crappies and perch.  They were members of Fox Lake Golf Club and both golfed there every week.  Ging enjoyed going out to eat, especially for breakfast.  She also loved being able to go for drives until the last few days of her life.  She enjoyed ‘antiquing’ and had a large collection of Lefton china and figurines.  Ging was a very special person with a smile for everyone and had the ability to strike up a conversation with anyone she met.
Geraldine died on Monday morning, December 1, 2008, at Fairmont Medical Center in Fairmont, Minnesota, at the age of eighty-five years.
Survivors include her sister, Donna Kopeschka of Kokomo, Indiana; her brother and his wife, Richard and Kay Pope of Trimont, Minnesota; sister-in-law, Janet and husband, Wayne Breneman of Sherburn, Minnesota; nieces and nephews, Pam Kopeschka, Kevin Kopeschka, Brian and Doris Kopeschka, all of Kokomo, Indiana, and Melanie Pope of Trimont, Minnesota; and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, aunts, uncles, brother-in-laws, and other relatives and friends.

Inurnment will be in Zion Lutheran Cemetery in rural Odin, Minnesota.

Ging's family prefers memorial be given to the United Methodist Church in Trimont.
