| | | Irene Helen Danielson was born October 14, 1910 to Axel and Ida (Freeberg) Danielson in Lake Fremont Township, Martin County, Minnesota. She attended country school #101 in Lake Fremont Township and one year in Dunnell. Irene was employed as a waitress in Wade’s Restaurant in Minneapolis. She also was employed as a clerk for Montgomery Wards in Worthington. Irene was a housekeeper for the Axel Lyons and Munson families in the Dunnell area. On February 19, 1938 she was united in marriage to Robert Peterson at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Dunnell, Minnesota. After their marriage they lived on a farm south of Fairmont until moving to a farm west of Sherburn. In 1948 they moved to a farm near Trimont and in 1967 they built a home on the Northwest shore of Cedar Lake. In 1980 they moved to a home in Trimont that they built and would spend the winter months and the summers out at the lake. In October of 2000, they moved to Amberfield Apartments in Trimont and later at Tina’s Assisted Living. In July of 2008, Irene became a resident of the Trimont Health Care Center in Trimont. She was a member of the First Lutheran Church, and it’s WELCA, was a Sunday School Teacher, sang in the Church Choir and was the Church organist for many years. She also was a member of Heritage Acres and the Trimont Health Care Auxiliary. Irene greatly enjoyed quilting and baking, especially rye bread.
Irene died on Monday morning, November 24, 2008, at the Fairmont Medical Center in Fairmont,, Minnesota, at the age of 98.
Survivors include her husband, Robert Peterson of Trimont, Minnesota; daughters, Anita (Bert) Johnson of Burnsville, Minnesota, Alice (Don) Hudson of Jupiter, Florida, Ida Marie (Ralph) Mathews of Edmonds, Washington, Harriet Peterson and husband, Ed Vail of Lexington, Massachusetts; son, Ben (Sheryl) Peterson of Waterford, Connecticut; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Dorothy Krohn of rural Sherburn, Minnesota; several nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
Irene was preceded in death by her parents,twin infant daughters, Edith and Eva; one brother and seven sisters and other relatives.
Interment will be in Lake Fremont Cemetery in rural Dunnell, Minnesota.
