Raymond Henry Harry Plumhoff was born September 5, 1918 to William and Olga (Borchardt) Plumhoff on the family farm in Fraser Township, Martin County, Minnesota. He was baptized and later confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Welcome. Ray attended country school in District #14 in Fraser Township and later farmed on the family farm. On February 5, 1939, he was united in marriage to Hazel Scheff at Trinity Lutheran Church in Welcome, Minnesota. After their marriage they farmed near, Welcome, Trimont and rural Alpha until moving into Alpha. Ray was employed for Del at Nafziger Implement in Alpha for many years until his retirement. Ray was a very active member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Alpha where he at one time held every offices in the Church. He served on the Alpha City Council for many years. Ray greatly enjoyed wood working and golfing and was a member of Loon Lake Golf Club. He loved playing cards, going to pot luck on Monday, and going to Thursday morning coffee all at the Alpha Town Hall. Ray died on Saturday evening, July 12, 2008 at St. Mary’s Hospital, Rochester Minnesota at the age of eighty-nine years. Ray is survived by his wife, Hazel Plumhoff of Alpha, Minnesota; his children, Sharon Malchow of Windom, Minnesota, Sheila Winther and her husband, Larry, of Spencer, Iowa, Sonya Welch and her husband, Elmer, of Alpha, Minnesota, Steven Plumhoff and his wife, Marilyn, of Alpha, Minnesota; grandchildren, Doreen, Orlando, Lisa, LaChelle, Lance, Traci, Tanya, Ashley, Brittany, Mike, Wes, Janelle, Peter, Tracy, Dan; great-grandchildren, Stephanie, Cody, Cheasley, Nikki, Nicole, Zachary, Megan, Emily, Jarrod, Alyssa, Alexis, Kayla, Devin and Egan; sister-in-law, Luella Plumhoff of Sherburn, Minnesota and Ruby Thomas of Encinitas,California; brother-in-law, Gordon Scheff and wife, Verda, of Sherburn, Minnesota; several nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, Ray was preceded in death by his five great-grandchildren; four brothers and two sisters and other relatives. Interment will be in the Sherburn Cemetery in Sherburn, Minnesota.
