Ragnal Torena Skaiaa was born November 23, 1911 to Gunnar and Mari (Bjora) Skaiaa in Madelia Township, Watonwan County, Minnesota. Her mother died when Ragnal was very young and she was raised by the Peter Malmanger family near Truman. She attended rural country school until moving into Truman and later was a 1929 Graduate of Truman High School. On August 29, 1929, she was united in marriage to Arnie M. Johnson at Waverly Lutheran Church in Trimont, Minnesota. After their marriage they farmed in Waverly Township on the family farm. Arnie died in 1966 and Ragnal lived on the farm until 1998 when she moved into Lutheran Manor in Truman. In July of 2006, she became a resident of Truman Senior Living. Ragnal was a member of Waverly Lutheran Church and it’s ladies aid. She played the piano and organ for over sixty years and also was the Church custodian for many years at Waverly. Ragnal provided piano lessons to many in the area. She greatly enjoyed her flowers and working in her garden.

Ragnal passed away on Tuesday morning, July 8, 2008, at the Truman Senior Living in Truman, Minnesota, at the age of 96.
 
Survivors include her children, Gerald Johnson and wife, Jane, of North Mankato, Minnesota, Arlen Johnson and wife, Ruth, of Waite Park, Minnesota, Alice Olson and husband, Charles, of Bloomington, Minnesota, Earl Johnson and his wife, Linda, of Dell Rapids, South Dakota, Barbara Hegg and husband, Dennis, of Madison, South Dakota; son-in-law, Gene Sheppard of rural Trimont, Minnesota; twenty-three grandchildren; thirty-seven great-grandchildren; ten great-great grandchildren; numerous relatives in Norway.
 
Ragnal was preceded in death by her parents, son, Ronald Johnson and his wife, Marline; daughter, Joyce Sheppard; granddaughters, Becky Jo Johnson and Jennifer Sheppard; several sisters and brothers; and other relatives.

Interment will be in Waverly Lutheran Cemetery in rural Trimont.
