On Tuesday, May 23, 2006 while conducting combat operations against enemy forces in Anbar Province in Iraq, Lance Cpl Robert G. Posivio III was killed. His funeral was held on Saturday, June 3, 2006 at St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Welcome, Minnesota.

Cpl Matt Earnhardt, from the United States Marine Corps attended as a funeral escort for the Funeral. Cpl Earnhardt is pictured holding a print, "Operation Iraqi Freedom" which was donated by Brown-Wilbert Vault Company to the Posivio Family.
