Floyd "Sonny" Cox, Jr.

Floyd E. “Sonny” Cox, Jr. age 80, of Waterloo, died Wednesday, June 6, 2012 at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home. He was born August 10, 1931 in Albia, Monroe County, Iowa, the son of Floyd E. and Evalina Sadie Sutton Cox. Sonny graduated from Waterloo East High School with the Class of 1951. He was united in marriage with Joann M. Power on September 3, 1954 in Waterloo. Sonny was a veteran of the US Navy serving during the Korean War. Sonny worked as a foreman at the Rath Packing Co. and later worked for Porter Camera. He retired in 1996. Survivors include his wife, Joann of Waterloo; 2 sons, Greg (Sally) Cox and Brad (Miki) Cox, all of Waterloo; 7 grandchildren; 1 great-granddaughter; and a sister, Florence (Wayne) Jacobs of Waterloo. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Kim Anderson; a granddaughter, Laura Joann Cox; 2 brothers, Edwin “Bud” and Jim Cox and a sister, Donna Hayes. Private Family graveside services will be held on Friday, June 8, 2012 at Garden of Memories Cemetery with Full Military Honors. There will be no visitation. Garden View Chapel Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Memorials may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice, PO Box 2880, Waterloo, Iowa 50704-2880.
