| | | Gladys L. Christensen, age 86, of Waterloo, died Saturday, March 6, 2010 at Covenant Medical Center.
Gladys was born November 13, 1923 in Waterloo, the daughter of Roy and Mary (Bean) Moser. She graduated from Waterloo East High School. Gladys was united in marriage with Vernon B. Christensen on June 26, 1946 in Waterloo. He preceded her in death on August 16, 1993.
Gladys worked for the Waterloo Community Schools as a cook at several facilities including Central High School. She was an active member of Walnut Ridge Baptist Church and participated in many of the church ministries, including serving as a deaconess and working with the sewing circle and other groups. She loved working in her yard. Gladys was a dog lover, raising Boston Terriers for several years.
Survivors include her daughter, Rebecca J. (Vernon) Myles of Vidalia, GA; two grandchildren, Joshua Myles of Calumet, MI and Carrie Myles of Lynchburg, VA; and a sister, Marlene (Richard) Meyer of Waterloo.
Gladys was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Vernon; and a sister, Lois Owens.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 10, 2010 at the Kearns, Huisman-Schumacher Chapel with burial in Orange Township Cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 9, 2010 and after 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at the Funeral Home.
