Eagle's Auxiliary Memorial Service will be held at 6:00 p.m. Wednesday night at the Funeral Home

Leola L. Potter, age 89, of Waterloo, died Saturday, February 13, 2010 at Ravenwood Nursing and Rehab Center.

She was born February 21, 1920 near Vinton, Harrison Township, Benton County, Iowa, the daughter of Ovid and Luelia May (Benion) Forsyth. She married Hubert I. Potter on June 20, 1938 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He preceded her in death on January 6, 1993.

Mrs. Potter worked at Rath Packing Co. for 12 years, and was also a cook at Woolworth Store snack bar. She later drove a rolling snack bar for Canteen Services. She was a charter member and past president of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles Auxiliary in Waterloo and a member of Central Christian Church.

Survivors include three sons, Daryl (Sharon) Potter, Jerry Potter of Dubuque, IA, and Gary (Carolyn) Potter, of Arlington, TX; a daughter, Janet (Bill) Russell of Dubuque, IA; thirteen grandchildren and twenty-five great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren and a sister, Della Stoneman of Waterloo.

Leola was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Hubert; a grandson, Eric Keith Potter; two sisters, Myrtle Allen and Ila Schutterle and three brothers, Carl, Earl and Ray Forsyth.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, February 18, 2010 at Central Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) with burial in the Garden of Memories Cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 17 at the Kearns, Huisman-Schumacher Chapel where there will be an Eagle’s Auxiliary Memorial Service at 6:00 p.m. Friends may also call after 9:30 a.m. Thursday at the church.
