| | | William R. Makedonski, age 81, of Evansdale, died Friday, May 1, 2009 at his home.
He was born February 7, 1928 in Steele, ND, the son of John and Mary (Amarov) Makedonski. He was united in marriage with Mavis Clara Butts on October 29, 1949 in Owatonna, MN. She preceded him in death on December 22, 2008.
Bill was an electrician at Rath Packing Co. in Waterloo for 42 years, retiring in 1985. He was a World War II Navy Veteran. Bill was a volunteer firefighter with the Evansdale Fire Department for many years and a member of Evansdale AMVETS Post #31. He was a former member of the Meat Cutter’s Union.
Survivors include a son, Mike (Lisa) Makedonski of Reinbeck, IA; a daughter, Sharon (Wes) Fox of Waterloo; four grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and two sisters, Polly (Ben) Wilson of Shell Rock, IA and Marian (Gene) Delong of San Jose, CA.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Katherine Ann; his wife Mavis; two sisters, Sophie Kittrel and Doris “Mickey” Kroeger; three brothers, George, Speridan “Johnny” and Jimmy Makedonski.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Tuesday, May 5, 2009 at the Kearns, Huisman-Schumacher Chapel in Waterloo. Burial will be in the Garden of Memories Cemetery with Full Military Honors accorded by Waterloo AMVETS Post #19 and Evansdale AMVETS Post #31. Friends may call from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Monday and an hour prior to the services on Tuesday at the Funeral Home.
Memorials may be directed to Iowa Hospice.
