Elmer L. “Bud” Heth, age 86 of Cedar Falls and formerly of Fairbank, IA, died Saturday, February 14, 2009 at the Martin Health Center at the Western Home in Cedar Falls of Alzheimer’s disease.

He was born January 25, 1923 in Fairbank, the son of Rudolph Mathias and Anna Amelia (Fink) Heth. Elmer was united in marriage with Helen E. Moulds on October 16, 1943 in Fairbank.

Elmer worked in the stock room of Viking Pump in Cedar Falls for 32 years, retiring in 1984. He was an active member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Cedar Falls. He loved gardening, traveling, playing cards and fishing. Elmer’s grandchildren, great grandchildren and friends gave him great joy.

Survivors include his wife, Helen of Cedar Falls; a daughter, Barbara L. Lang of Des Moines; a son, Delmer L. (Mary) Heth of Cedar Falls; five grandchildren, Gary (Janice) Heth, Kelly Heth, Tammy (Paul) Frahm, Solon Lang and Renee (Paul) Shortt; five great grandchildren, Trent, Travis and Tristen Heth, Michael Shortt and Halie Frahm; three sisters, Edna Bellmer and Doris Schmidt of Waterloo and Marilyn (Marvin) Weisert of Bloomington, IL.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Elna Huegli and Elda Askelson; and four brothers, Robert, Wilfred “Bill”, Edwin and Herbert Heth.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, February 17, 2009 at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church with burial in Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens, both in Cedar Falls. Friends may call from 4:00-8:00 P.M. Monday at Garden View Chapel in Waterloo and after 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at the church.

Instead of flowers, the family prefers memorials to the Alzheimer’s Association or Our Redeemer Lutheran Church.
