| | | Donald R. Fulton, age 87, of Carson, Iowa died September 24, 2009, at the Oakland Manor following complications from heart surgery.
Donald Ray Fulton, one of three children of Hattie Mae (Stoddard) Fulton and Oliver Perry Fulton, was born July 2, 1922 at his parent’s home near Bartlett, Iowa. Don graduated from the Thurman High School in 1941. Following school, Don farmed and lived in the McPaul, Thurman, and Bartlett, Iowa areas.
Don and Verla Gail Wilcox were married on March 27, 1953 at the Trinity Baptist Church in Omaha, Nebraska. Their marriage was blessed with three sons, Randy Lee, Park Lawton, and Max Allen. In 1958, Don and Verla moved south of Carson, Iowa where he farmed for 39 years and Don also did custom seed cleaning for farmers in the western Iowa area. In 1997, Don retired from farming. The family were members of the Carson United Methodist Church
In 2009, Don moved to the Oakland Manor Care Center in Oakland, Iowa following complications from a heart surgery. Don and Verla had been married 56 years, when Don died at the Oakland Manor Care Center on September 24, 2009 at the age of 87 years, 2 months, and 22 days.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, brother Howard, sister Pauline Sheldon, and step-sisters Dorothy Frailey and Mildred Rank.
He is survived by his wife Verla of Carson; sons, Randy Fulton and wife Nancy of Wilber, Nebraska; Park Fulton and wife Dawn of Fort Dodge, Iowa; and Max Fulton and wife Debbie of Oakland, Iowa; seven grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.
A memorial fund has been established.
Interment in the Thurman Cemetery, Thurman, Iowa.
