Michael "Micky" Palm, age 60, of Council Bluffs, Iowa, passed away on September 9, 2009 at the Jennie Edmundson Hospital in Council Bluffs.

Michael Leroy Palm, son of Charles Henry Palm and Margaret Ilene (Gustin) South Palm, was born on April 1, 1949 at Guthrie Center, Iowa.

Fondly known as “Micky”, his family moved to Bakersfield, California in 1950. His mother, Margaret, tragically died in a motor vehicle accident on December 31, 1956. Micky and two of his brothers, Larry South and Stanley Palm, moved to Macedonia, Iowa to live with their aunt and uncle, Donna and Kenneth Love. His older sister Peggy was already married, and his brother Jerri South and sister Dixie South stayed to live with their father. Micky attended Iowa School for the Deaf in Council Bluffs, Iowa through the 11th grade.

Micky was married and blessed with a son, Brian Keith. He lived in Council Bluffs where he worked on diesel trucks at Larry’s Diesel Repair, a business owned by his brother, Larry. Micky enjoyed boating and fishing, and spending time with his family and grandchildren.

Micky passed away at the Jennie Edmundson Memorial Hospital in Council Bluffs on September 9, 2009 at the age of 60 years, 5 months, and 8 days. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Micky is survived by his son Brian Palm of Carter Lake, IA; grandson Brian Michael Eugene Palm and granddaughter Tasha Nichole Palm; sisters, Peggy Gebert and husband Fred of Yuba City, CA and Dixie Schmidt and husband Roger of Fairmont, NE; brothers, Larry South and wife Gloria of Council Bluffs, Jerri South of Council Bluffs, and Stanley Palm and wife Peggy of Kent, WA; his aunt and foster-mother Donna Devilbiss and husband Leo of Cumberland, IA; his uncle and foster-father Kenneth Love of Carson, IA; nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends.

A memorial fund has been established.

Interment in the Carson Cemetery.
