| Shirley Ann Babbitt, one of five children of Alvina Augusta (Koepke) Hansen and Johannas Ravrend Hansen, was born in Battle Creek, Iowa on May 23, 1939. Shirley attended school in Battle Creek and Charter Oak, Iowa.
In 1954, Shirley and Bill Harbaugh were married and their marriage was blessed with a son, Donovan. Shirley continued to work in retail sales. On September 18, 1965, Shirley and Harry Arthur Babbitt were married in Yankton, South Dakota. Their marriage was blessed with three children; Christy, Robert, and Ronald, who died at birth. In addition to her role as a homemaker, Shirley worked as an Avon representative for many years. She was full of life and loved her family. Shirley and Harry had been married nearly 41 years when Shirley died at their home in Malvern, Iowa on August 8, 2006. She was preceded in death by her parents; infant son Ronald; and daughter Christy Carroll in 2004. Shirley is survived by her husband Harry Babbitt of Malvern, IA; sons Don Harbaugh and his wife Nina of Swea City, IA and Robert Babbitt of Malvern; brothers Ronald Hansen and his wife Joanne of Richland, MO, Donald Hansen and his wife Flo of Alberta, AL, Roger Hansen and his wife Kristy of Polk City, IA; sister Patricia Nohrenberg and her husband Ray of Omaha, NE; 10 grandchildren; nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends. | ||
