| Lawrence Ranne Alberts, one of five children of Ernest William Alberts and Ida May (Ranne) Alberts, was born June 13, 1911 on the family farm west of Malvern, Iowa. Lawrence, who was known as Bill to both family and friends, attended Mt. Vernon country school and Malvern High School.
Following school, Bill joined his father with the operation of the family farm. Bill enjoyed farm life and caring for the livestock and row crops. Bill and Dorothy Marie Cogley of Glenwood, Iowa were married on March 5, 1944 at the Methodist Church Parsonage in Glenwood. They made their home on the family farm with Bill’s mother Ida and his sisters Marjorie Alberts and Ferne Alberts. Bill and Dorothy moved to Linnwood Estates, an assisted living community, in May of 2004. Bill and Dorothy had been married 61 years when Bill died December 25, 2005 at Jennie Edmundson Hospital in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Bill had attained the age of 94 years, 6 months, and 12 days. Bill was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Alton Albert and his wife Helen and Maurice Alberts; sisters Marjorie Alberts and Ferne Alberts. In addition to his wife Dorothy, Bill is survived by a sister-in-law, Helena Alberts of Columbia, MO; nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends. | ||
