| | | Marjorie Kay Bishop, one of four children of Laura Belle (Travis) and Norman Emil Hollen, was born in Winterset, Iowa on September 1, 1931. Marjorie graduated from the Winterset High School in 1949, and then attended Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa.
Marjorie and Daniel Earl Streyffeler were married in Winterset on December 19, 1950. Their marriage was blessed with two children Norman Earl and Laura Jean. Marjorie enjoyed her role as a homemaker, until 1961 when she opened Marjorie’s Beauty Shop. In 1975, Marjorie and John E. Bishop were married. They continued to live in Winterset. Marjorie remained active in the Winterset United Methodist Church, and enjoyed sewing and her garden. In 1996, Marjorie retired and closed the beauty shop after 35 years. In 1998, John’s health forced him to move to the Griswold Care Center in Griswold, Iowa and Marjorie moved to Carson, Iowa to be closer to her daughter’s family.
Marjorie and John had been married 26 years, when John died at the Griswold Care Center in 2001. Marjorie continued to live in her Carson home. She was a member of the Carson Presbyterian Church and the Sigma Gama Club. In January of 2004, Marjorie moved to the Parson’s House in Omaha, Nebraska. She died at the Parson’s House on December 7, 2004, having attained the age of 73 years, 3 months, and 6 days. Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents, son Norman Streffler, and brothers Robert Hollen and William Hollen. She is survived by her daughter Lauri Drake and her husband Jim of Carson; grandsons Billy Drake and his wife Angie, Toby Drake, and Halley Drake; great grandson Adley Drake; twin-sister Margaret Stark and her husband Wayne of Lawndale, CA; sister-in-law Helen Hollen of Creston, IA; step-son Kevin Bishop and his wife Amy of Osceola, Iowa; step granddaughters Jennifer, Courtney, Nicole, Barbara, and Erin Bishop; nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
