  VIEW/SEND CONDOLENCES

Margaret Matilda Andersen, one of five children born to Adolph Henry and Mary (Holst) Goos, was born on March 31, 1911 at her parent’s rural home in Pottawattamie County east of Treynor, IA. Margaret attended country school and later Treynor High School where she graduated in 1929.
Margaret was 19 years old when she and Clarence Andersen were married at her parent’s farm home near Treynor on April 9, 1930. They made their home on a farm near Carson, IA where they farmed for six years, but were eventually forced out of farming by the Depression. Clarence then started a trucking and corn shelling business and the couple moved into Treynor. Their marriage was blessed with daughter Mary Ann and son Ronald (Andy). Clarence and Margaret had been married 48 years when Clarence died on March 26, 1978.
Margaret was always an active member of the Zion Congregational Church and the Dorcas Aid in Treynor. She was also active in the community and was a member of the Treynor Go-Getters, the Senior Citizens Club, and the Statesmen Travel Club. She was also proud to be a Five Gallon Blood Donor. Margaret enjoyed reading cookbooks, cooking, and making bread for family dinners. She loved spending time with her family and her grandchildren.
Margaret died at the Oakland Manor Nursing Home in Oakland, IA on June 20, 2002 at the age of 91 years, 2 months, and 20 days.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, husband Clarence, daughter Mary Ann Sudmann in 1992, brothers Irvin Goos and Arthur Goos, sisters Elvira Eggers and Irene Schneckloth, and granddaughter Cindy Stewart.
Margaret is survived by her son Ronald Andersen and his wife Beverly of Lakeland, FL; son-in-law Herbert Sudmann of Treynor, IA; six grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren; sister-in-law Selma Andersen and brother-in-law Vernon Andersen both of Treynor; nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
