| | | Richard Withun, 64, of Millington passed away on Tuesday, September 22, 2009, at Genesys Regional Medical Center after an extended illness.
Richard was born on November 19, 1944, in Pontiac to Herbert and Ruth (Neumann). On February 29, 1964, he married Lucille C. (Hanna) Withun in Alpena. They moved to Burton in 1965 and subsequently moved to Millington upon Rich's retirement in 1994. Richard completed an apprenticeship with General Motors and served as a tinsmith with GM for 30 years. Upon retiring to Millington he found new passions in his fishing ponds, completing "projects" with his tractors and watching the local wildlife.
Mr. Withun is survived by his wife of nearly 46 years, Lucille C.; a son, Paul (Ann) Withun of Newville, Pennsylvania; a grandson, David Withun; his father, Herbert P., of Ossineke; a brother, Charles (Laura) H., of Rose City; and a sister, Kathleen A., of Holly.
Mr. Withun was preceded by his mother, Ruth E. (Neumann) and his grandparents, Arthur and Esther (Werner) Neumann.
Friends may call at the Hanlin Funeral Home (4823 W. Main Street, Millington, MI),on Wednesday, September 23, 2009 from 6-8 p.m. The funeral service will be at the funeral home on Thursday, September 24, 2009 at 1 p.m. with Pastor Kirk Abatelli from of Saint Paul Lutheran Church officiating. Interment will be in the Millington Township Cemetery immediately following the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Goodwill Industries International, The Humane Society of Tuscola County (P.O. Box 245, Caro, MI 48723), or a charity of your choice. Hanlin Funeral Home has been assisting the family with the arrangements.
