Mr. Kenneth (Ken) Kennard

Special Services:
Funeral services were held on Saturday August 24, 2009 at the Hanlin Funeral Home. Pastor William Sanders delivered the funeral message and closing committal prayers at the cemetery. Ken was laid to rest at the Riverside Cemetery in Vassar MI. Brial services at the cemetery were concluded with Military Honors performed by the Mayville American Legion and the Mayville VFW.

Mr. Kenneth D. (Ken) Kennard of Vassar, passed away Monday evening while at the St. Mary’s Medical Center in Saginaw, Ken was 74.
Kenneth D. Kennard a lifelong Vassar resident was born on August 25, 1934 in Vassar Michigan and was the son of Lincoln & Luella (Richmond ) Kennard. As a young man Ken served our country in the US-Army during the final days of the Korean War. When he returned home he went to work for his father in The Kennard Body Shop, and in 1972 took over the complete operation and continued on the family business. On June 22 1957 Ken married Miss Mary Jane Fischer, he and Mary Jane have celebrated 52 years of marriage. Ken leaves besides his wife Mary Jane three sons and two daughters in-law, Kevin & Linda Kennard, Kyle Kennard, and Kirk & Lynette Kennard. Seven grandchildren, Karen & John Petrach, Sam Kennard, Katelynn Kennard, Kimberlee Kennard & Fiancée Jon Ward, Amanda Kennard, Daniel Kennard, and Evan Kennard. He leaves also a brother and sister in-law, Burt & Doris Kennard, and a sister Leaella Taylor., as well as several nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends. Ken is preceded in death by a son Kenneth John a brother Ray and his parents Lincoln & Luella Kennard. Memorial Gifts of Remembrance can be directed to the Make a Wish Foundation.
