Mr. Edward (Ed) Simmons | Special Services:
Funeral services were held on Thursday May 21, 2009 at the St. Paul Lutheran Church. Ed was laid to rest at the Gunnell Cemetery in Arbela Twp, Millington MI. Pastor James Bruner delivered the funeral message and closing prayers at the cemetery. Following the closing prayers the Conrad-Wager & Keene American Leagion Post 164 honored Ed with a Military Tribute.

| | | Ed passed from our world into God's Kingdom early Sunday evening May 17, 2009 while at the Cooper Campus of the Covenant Health Care Center in Saginaw. Ed was 76.
Edward J. Simmons the son of George & Frances(Martin) Simmons was born on September 15, 1932 in Chesaning Michigan. On Septemebr 17, 1955 Ed married Miss Dorothy Kietnitz,and together she and Ed have celebrated 53 years of marriage. Ed & Dorothy owned and operated for 33 1/2 years the Simmons Grocery & Gas Station on Belsay Road in Arbela Twp. Ed and Dorothy retired and closed the business in 1994. As a young man Ed served our country during the Korean War in the US. Army. Ed loved his time hunting, fishing and snowmobiling with family and friends. Though he has fought a hard fight its now his time to rest. He leaves his wife Dorothy, two sons and daughters in-law; Jim & Tammy and Carl & Kristine Simmons. Three grandchildren; two grandaughters and a grandson. Sarah Simmons and special friend William McCrandall, Laura Simmons and special friend Zach Simon and grandson David Parker. Ed leaves also a brother and sister in-law; Don & Shirley Simmons, two sisters and a brother in-law; Barb & Nathan Reed, and Berneita Whelton. Ed is preceded in death by a sister Patricia McKinstry in 1993, and a brother Robert in 2000. If you would like to give a memorial gift of remembrance you can do so to St. Paul Lutheran Church.
