Edward J. Roberts of Apache Junction AZ formerly of Millington MI, passed away Friday October 31, 2008 at the Micasa Nursing Center in Mesa AZ, Ed was 82.
Ed was born in Flint MI on January 10, 1926 and was the son of the late Benjamin & Ida (Sugden) Roberts. Ed graduated from Millington High School in 1944. After high school Ed went into the US-Army and served from 1945 to 1946. On June 16, 1951 Ed married Miss LaDonna Bradley he and LaDonna have celebrated 57 years of marriage. Ed farmed most of his life on the family farm in Millington. During the off season of farming Ed delivered fuel oil. He loved the outdoors, hunting fishing, and boating where his favorite things in life. After he retired Ed and LaDonna traveled around the country spending winters in FL,TX, and AZ. Ed leaves to cherish his memory wife LaDonna, son; Bernard Roberts of Grand Rapids MI, grandchildren; Amanda of Tomball TX, David Roberts, Michael & Jessica Roberts their daughter Ashley McALpine all of Apache Junction AZ, Cassandra Roberts of Mesa AZ, Step-Grandchildren Sam Roberts and his family of Tomball TX. Sister in-law Wavis Roberts of Millington MI. Nephew Owen Roberts & Wife Vicki and their family of Mayville MI and special friend Patty Hibner of Mesa AZ. Ed is preceded in death by a daughter Marilyn Sue Roberts, a son Wayne Allen Roberts and also a brother Benjamin D. Roberts. Memorial Gifts of Remebrance can be directed to; Millington United Methodist Church, Gold Canyon United Methodist Church, Disabled American Veterans, Boy Scouts of America,and the American Cancer Society. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
