John B. Showalter, Jr.
John B. Showalter, Jr., of Pinch, WV, passed away July 26, 2012 at CAMC General Hospital.

He was born June 7, 1930, son of the late Barney and Minnie (Gibson) Showalter. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandparents; brothers Geanedsel Showalter of Slatyfork, WV; Charles Showalter of Albany, Georgia; sister Virginia Cline of Albany, Georgia; and brother-in-law Billy Cantrell.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Lorena Showalter, sister-in-laws, Viola Showalter, Shirley Moore, and Wanda Ammons; brother-in-laws Bernard, Basil & Walter Cantrell; also survived by niece Vonnie Kimbrel; great nephews Randy and Ander Kimbrel; great great nephews Fenton and Baker Kimbrel.

He served in the Marine Corp, worked for the State of West Virginia in Workmen’s Compensation Department before going in the Marine Corp. He retired from Appalachian Power with 36 l/2 years service. His hobbies involved building projects with his hands and decorating his yard at Christmas time.

Service will be at 11:00 AM, Monday, July 30, 2012 at Hafer Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Matt Balser officiating. Burial will be Elk Hills Memorial Park, Big Chimney. Visitation will be from 6-8 PM Sunday, July 29, 2012 at the funeral home.
