Dear Family: My sincere condolences to you due to Millard’s death. As I sit here in Houston, I was stunned at the terrible news of Mil’s passing. He was my main contact back to Charleston. I am proud to have had Mill as my friend. I am a better person from having known Mil, and I regret that we could not get together (due to my health) during these final years. I knew Mil well from his boxing years & in school at CHS. But at Carbide, I got to know him professionally and as a true friend – I can see him now walking with his “Chambers Swagger” around the various facilities displaying that mischievous smile and he always carried his camera. He was friendly and enormously helpful to ensure that I always got the photos to express the message that I wanted to portray. Mill didn’t just take photographs; he used his camera to convey a story with each assignment. I am grateful that Mil and Bob Samples made me apart of the OFND. His humor and comments were priceless; he will be missed and remembered by all who knew him. My prayers are with you. Bernie Fulks

Mike, Mariam and family, I am writing from Patsy’s email address to send our condolences with the passing of Glenn. When I found out yesterday I wanted to come today, Saturday, to be there with you in your time of need as you always have been for me. Recently I have had a few minor follow up problems to a major surgery that I had in January 2009 and don’t feel confident that I can do a turnaround trip in two days. Please forgive me as I will definitely be there in spirit. I often think about both of you as well as Charlene and the rest of your family and realize that I haven’t been to visit you for quite a while. Patsy and are praying for you and the family and you are utmost in our thoughts. We love you all and wish we could be there. Love, Patsy and Bruce and the rest of the McHoul’s>>>>

We were so sorry to learn of the death of our former teacher, John, "Pete" Anderson He was always such a pleasant person and as we recall, the students were very fond of him. I had the pleasure of working in the WV Department of Education during the period he was employed there. Very few people can report that they have enjoyed seventy-two years of marriage. Congratulations. We share in your loss. Please extend our sympathy to the entire family. Sincerely, Noreita & Jack Shamblin

For my aunt, Denise Hawkins~ The Traveler She has put on invisibility. Dear Lord, I cannot see-- But this I know, although the road ascends And passes from my sight, That there will be no night; That You will take her gently by the hand And lead her on Along the road of life that never ends, And she will find it is not death but dawn. I do not doubt that You are there as here, And you will hold her dear. Our life did not begin with birth, It is not of the earth; And this that we call death, it is no more Than the opening and closing of a door And in Your house how many rooms must be Beyond this one where we rest momentarily. Dear Lord, I thank You for the faith that frees, The love that knows it cannot lose its own; The love that, looking through the shadows, sees That You and she and I are ever one!

For the Lonnie (Jubie) Chandler funeral- I have known Mr. Chandler for 25 or so years now. He was always a friend. His daughter, now Robin Villers (with Goldkey Realty in Ripley) started doing court house research in the early l980's, which I also did, here in Elizabeth. Before too long, her parents, Lonnie and Edna Chandler, followed her here from Eastern Kanawha County. They soon bought a house from some old friends of mine, the Pomroys. Mr. Chandler turned out to also have been a good barber; he did some of that here in Eliza- beth, and cut my hair several times, before he retired completely around 20 years ago. He always wanted to see a farm on the Wirt-Calhoun Co. line owned by an old friend of his, Dan Earl Monroe, as I was familiar with that area, we drove over to that area on Lower Straight Creek about ten years, where I pointed it out to him on the hill, though I think we both regretted not actually getting up on the hill. In later years the Chand- lers moved to the Sandyville area in Jackson Coun- ty, then Mrs. Chandler died and Mr. Chandler moved back to the Clendenin area. But I would see him in Elizabeth every once in awhile. He was always a friend.
