CHESAPEAKE – John Christopher Couser, 26, passed away on October 14, 2009 in his home. Born on June 14, 1983, John graduated from Indian River High School in 2002 and attended Tidewater Community College. He was a gifted poet and artist, taking great pleasure in writing about his observations of the world and creating comic strips in his free time. Known for his ability to rap, he was often encouraged by friends to spontaneously entertain them. His father commented that, "John is now in Heaven, rapping for God."

John was a devoted father who took great pleasure in engaging his young son in many amusing activities. His handsome smile and engaging personality will live on in the memories of those who had the honor to know this sensitive, talented young man.

He is survived by his loving parents, Peggy Ellen and P. Keith Couser; a son, Christopher James Couser; two sisters, Julie Ann Couser and her husband, Charlie Dixson, and Cristina Marie Couser; godparents, Paula and Tony Woods, and a host of extended family members and devoted friends.

The family will receive friends on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Graham Funeral Home, Greenbrier Chapel. Services and interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to establish a trust fund for John’s son, Christopher. Please share a memory with the family at www.grahamfuneralhome.com.
