Plant a tree, bush or flowers. Watching the cycles of the plant’s growth will help you handle the cycles of mourning.

Make a scholarship. You can give money to your local school, church, or civic organization and this money can be given in memory of your loved one.

Give to a charity. Did your loved one have a special charity? If your loved one had a disease that stills need a cure, you can give to that charity as well.

Celebrate with a meal. Invite friends and family over and serve your loved one’s favorite foods. You can then share stories about your loved one and the impact he/she had on your life. Don’t be afraid to laugh, cry, and remember.

Volunteer your time. Maybe there is an issue or a cause that was special to your loved one. Maybe there is an issue or a cause that is important to you. Volunteer your time – you won’t regret it.
