MEET OUR LICENSED PROFESSIONAL STAFF:
Our licensed staff of funeral directors and embalmers have over 100 years of funeral experience, while representing and relating to people of all ages, from the Swing Generation to Baby Boomers to Generation X’ers. Today's funeral director is more than a caretaker of the dead; he or she also is a memorial event planner. A funeral or memorial service often involves the same level of planning as a wedding or bar mitzvah. However, the planning for a funeral usually must be accomplished in a few days rather than over several months, all while the family is coping with the sometimes overwhelming emotion and physical exhaustion common to the death of a loved one. Our funeral directors and staff are caring, extensively-trained professionals who bring a diversity of skills to the logistics of this event so that you are free to focus on your family and friends.

Our funeral directors and embalmers are licensed as required by South Carolina State law and complete continuing education courses annually. Many Directors have their preneed insurance licenses and are well versed and experienced in handling all types of at-need or advance need situations.

OUR CLERICAL STAFF:
These full time employees provide the behind the scene support for the funeral service operation; they file the forms and authorizations, publish obituary notices and death certificates, process contracts, insurance policies and other documents that are required on a daily basis. They are knowledgeable of government benefits and probate procedures.

OUR FUNERAL SERVICE ASSISTANTS:
These ladies and gentlemen are the mainstays of our operation. They perform functions in the day-to-day operation that non-licensed personnel are permitted to do, which keeps our licensed staff available to meet with our Families. Most are retired from other occupations and bring a wealth of experience and knowledge to our organization.

	Glenn C. Miller General Manager/Vice President of Operations Glenn is a native of Newberry, SC and was raised in West Columbia. He moved to Spartanburg and joined the staff of The J.F. Floyd Mortuary in 1970. He had previously graduated from the Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science. Soon after his arrival Glenn met and married Patricia Kekas Miller and they are the parents of two sons Nicholas and Stephan. Glenn has served with Greater Spartanburg Ministries, and as president of Spartanburg County unit of American Heart Association. He is a former Boy Scouts of America Leader and was the recipient of the Dr. George Dean Johnson, Sr., Scouting Leadership Award. He served as president of the South Carolina Board of Funeral Service, as an officer of South Carolina Funeral Directors Association Piedmont Group and later President of the Association itself. He has served as State PAC representative and on the advocacy committee for the National Funeral Directors Association and is currently serving as a NFDA Policy Board Representative. An active member of St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, Glenn served as president of the Parish Council, and received the Archangel Michael Honors from the Greek Orthodox Diocese of Atlanta. He is a member and former officer of the American Hellenic Education Progressive Association (AHEPA) Lodge #1 Atlanta, Ga., and Spartanburg Chapter #268 as well as other civic and community programs.
	Wayne O. Harris Funeral Director Mr. Harris retired from a full time position as an Assistant Manager at Floyds in April of 2008 but continues to work a part-time schedule that accommodates his golf game. Wayne was born in Rock Hill, SC, and was reared in Sharon, SC. He is a graduate of York High School, received his BA degree from Clemson University, his MA degree from Western Carolina University and his Education Degree from University of South Carolina. Wayne retired from Spartanburg School District Six as an Elementary Principal after 21 years of service. He began his career at The J. F. Floyd Mortuary on a part-time basis in 1974 and received his Funeral Directors license in August 1982. Following his retirement in 1995 he became a full time employee of the firm and an Assistant Manager. Shortly thereafter he received his Pre-Need insurance license in 1996. Wayne is the longtime husband of Pat Harris and they have two adult children, Lisa and Julie and three wonderful grandchildren. He is a member of Saint James United Methodist Church, of Spartanburg, where he currently serves as chairman of the board of the Kindergarten Program, a member of both the South Carolina and National Funeral Directors Association and The Three Pines Country Club where he serves on the Board of Directors. In his spare time he enjoys Golf, Fishing and visiting with his grandchildren.
	Scott Fowler Assistant Manager/Funeral Director A native of Spartanburg Scott is a 1978 graduate of Spartanburg High School. He went on to graduate from the University of South Carolina with a BS degree in Chemistry. He began his career in funeral service at Floyds in 1981, and after serving his apprenticeship, became a licensed Funeral Director in 1985. He received his Pre-Need insurance license in 2002. Scott is active with both the South Carolina and National Funeral Directors Associations. In April 2004 he had the distinct honor of being selected to participate in the burial of the sailors of the U.S. Hunley. He is past president of the South Carolina Young Funeral Directors Association and is currently serving on an advisory board at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center for hospital and funeral director relations. In addition, Scott serves on the Advisory Board for Life Point, the organ and tissue procurement agency for South Carolina. Scott and his wife - Rena, along with their sons Marshall, Sam and Will are members of Trinity United Methodist Church.
	Gordon Floyd Vice President Gordon Floyd was born in Concord, NC, a son of the late Dr. W. Russel Floyd and Elizabeth H. Floyd. He is a grandson to the late J.F. Floyd, founder of this organization. Gordon moved to Spartanburg in 1972 and began working at the family firm in 1976. He went on to become a licensed funeral director in 1978 and later was named vice president of The J.F. Floyd Mortuary. Gordon is married to Karen Floyd and they have two twin boys, Chris and Ernie. They are members of First Presbyterian Church and Gordon is a very active member of the Spartanburg Lions Club.
	Harold Wilson Director of Advance Funeral Planning/Funeral Director/Emb. Harold was born in Oaktown, Indiana and is a graduate of Indiana State University with a B.S. degree in Business Management. He later received his Associate degree in Funeral Service from Vincennes University. He later earned the distinction as Certified Pre-need Counselor through the National Funeral Directors Association. Harold joined the staff of The J. F. Floyd Mortuary in January 2002 as Director of Advance Funeral Planning. Harold, his wife Anita, and their two children Aaron and Mikayla, attend First Baptist North Spartanburg, and are active in numerous civic clubs and organizations. His family share time together by working and playing in the yard, along with their pet dog, Dora.
	Charles Welch Funeral Director & Embalmer Charlie was born in Bishopville, S.C., and moved to Spartanburg in 1966. He began his funeral service career by attending Gupton-Jones College of Funeral Service in Dallas, TX, and after graduation served his apprenticeship at Bass Funeral Home in Rock Hill, S.C. Charlie is married to Janet M. Welch and has two sons Nelson and Turner. He is a lifelong Presbyterian and is currently a member of First Presbyterian Church of Spartanburg. Until recently he owned and operated a Bed & Breakfast in Montreat, NC at the Presbyterian Retreat and Conference center. He enjoys most types of sports and is a huge CLEMSON fan.
	Larry Coleman Funeral Director & Embalmer Larry is a native of Eastern Kentucky and reared in the small coal mining town of Phelps, in Pike County. A graduate of Phelps High School he went on to attend the Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science graduating in 1982. Larry served his internship at Blackburn Funeral Home in Versailles and continued to serve Kentucky families until his move to Spartanburg to join The J.F. Floyd Mortuary in 1995. Active in several civic groups, Larry formed Survivors of Suicide Support Groups in Kentucky and in Spartanburg. He is a member of the Woodmen of The World Family Fraternity, and attends “The Journey” worship Center. Since coming to Floyds, Larry has also become involved in the advertising and marketing duties of the firm.
	Edgar "Eddie" Fargis Funeral Director/Inventory Control A native of Winston-Salem, NC, Eddie moved with his family to Spartanburg at the young age of 3 years old. He is a graduate of Spartanburg High School and has worked in the area all of his adult life. Eddie began his career at Floyd’s in December 1998 and completed his apprenticeship as a Funeral Director in 2001. Eddie also received his Pre-Need Insurance license in October of 2004. Eddie is an active member of The Episcopal Church of the Advent where he served as former Vestryman, Lay Reader, and Chalice bearer. He is a member of The Brotherhood of Saint Andrew at the church. He also is a member of the Spartanburg Kiwanis Club. Eddie enjoys spending time gardening, chasing his chocolate Lab “Gladys”, riding his Vespa Scooter, Hiking and Mountain Biking and his wife - Regina.
	Dan Denler Funeral Director & Embalmer Dan Denler is a native of California and moved with his family to Spartanburg in 1970. He graduated from Fletcher Academy in 1975 and then began his career in Funeral Service by attending Gupton-Jones College of Funeral Service where he graduated in 1977. He has well over twenty years of experience working with families and perfecting his skills in Embalming and Cosmetology. Most of his working career has been spent serving the families of the Upstate of South Carolina. He and his lovely wife Tressy live in the Duncan Park Area of Spartanburg. He is a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church of Spartanburg. He and his wife are the proud owners of a gracious “dog faced cat” named Smoakie. He enjoys Canvas Painting, traveling, and riding motorcycles.
	Brian Motts Funeral Director & Embalmer Brian is a native of Pacolet, SC and began his funeral service career in 2001. After joining the staff of The J.F. Floyd Mortuary that same year, he began his funeral service education at Piedmont Technical College in Greenwood, SC. Brian graduated with honors in 2003 with his degree in funeral service and received his license as Funeral Director and Embalmer. He later received his Pre-Need insurance license in December of 2004. Brian is a member of Pacolet First Baptist Church, and is a member and past-President of the Pacolet Ruritan Club.
	Marvin Floyd Facilities & Equipment Coordinator Born and reared in Spartanburg County Marvin began his work at Floyds in 1973 and served as assistant to the Funeral service staff until 1978. In 1990 he returned to Floyds where he was later named as one of the management assistants, and now serves as the Facilities and Equipment Coordinator. Marvin and his wife Joan Moore Floyd now live in the Boiling Springs area. He has three children Scott Floyd, Angela Collins and Amy Stevens. Marvin and Joan are members of Praise Cathedral Church of God in Greer. In addition to his duties at Floyd’s Marvin enjoys spending time with his seven wonderful grandchildren.
	Eddie Smith Funeral Director Eddie Smith is a life long resident of Spartanubrg County and a 1972 graduate of Cowpens High School. He received an AA Degree from Spartanburg Methodist College, a B.S. Degree from the University of South Carolina at Spartanburg, and both M. Ed and Ed. S Degrees from Converse College. Eddie retired from Spartanburg District Seven Schools where he taught at Daniel Morgan Technology Center. Eddie began his career in funeral service in 1995 and became a licensed Funeral Director in 1998. He received his Pre Need Insurance License in 2006. Eddie and his wife, Gina, have one son, Hunter. Thay are members of Morningside Baptist Church. He has served the citizens of Spartanburg County as a law enforcement officer, emergency medical technician and a firefighter.
	Jon Schanen Funeral Director & Embalmer Jon came to us from Greenwood, South Carolina and currently resides in Boiling Springs. He is an active member of Lake Bowen Baptist Church and Woodmen of the World Family Fraternity, Boiling Springs Lodge. In 2008, he got a girl friend! In August of 2009, she agreed to marry him! Imagine that.
	Chuck Fowler Funeral Director & Embalmer A lifelong resident of Inman,S.C., he began his career in funeral service with The J.F. Floyd Mortuary in November of 2005. Chuck is a recent graduate of Piedmont Technical College majoring in Funeral Service. He completed his career studies and apprenticeship and then became licensed as a funeral director and embalmer in November of 2008. Chuck is married to Dena Plumley Fowler and has two sons, Colby and Carson. He and his family are members at Holston Creek Baptist Church of Inman. He enjoys dirt track racing, and four wheeling with his sons.
	Otto Quintero Apprentice/OSHA Coordinator Otto is a native of Columbia, South America and was raised in Rhode Island. He attended The Fine Mortuary College in Massachusetts. He and his family moved to Boiling Springs in 2004 and joined the staff of The J.F. Floyd Mortuary that same year. He is a member of Saint Paul The Apostle Catholic Church. Otto, his wife Janneth and children Andrea, Otto and Alex, and even the family pets, Phatty, and Spot enjoy picnicking, family togetherness and sports.
	Tim Raney Apprentice Tim is a lifelong resident of the Spartanburg area and lives in Inman. He is a member of Inman Mills Baptist Church. He has also worked and served in the Boiling Springs area for several years. He is a member and past two term president of the Boiling Springs Business Association. He is Chairman of the Boiling Springs Beautification Committee and member of The Boiling Springs Park Commission. Tim has served as a member and Past President of the Boiling Springs Jaycees as well as the South Carolina Jaycees. He became a member of the U.S. Jaycees Board of Directors. He later was awarded the prestigious Clint Dunagan Award by the U.S. Jaycees.
