Margaret A. Berger, age 90, of Oshkosh, passed away on Monday, April 23, 2012 at the Bethel Home. She was born on June 7, 1921 in Oshkosh, a daughter of the late Otto M. and Mary (Kalous) Ilk. She married Carl R. Berger Jr. on January 4, 1941. Carl preceded her in death in January of 1975. Margaret greatly enjoyed knitting, sewing and time spent with her family, especially her grand and great-grandchildren.
Her memory will be cherished by two sons, Jay C. (Eileen) Berger of Doylestown, PA, Robert J. Berger of Fond du Lac; three daughters, Carole A. (Stephen) Balda of Reedsburg, Pamela M. (Richard) Wentzel of Fife Lake, MI and Kathryn R. (Richard) Hurkman of Oshkosh. She is further survived by thirteen grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by a sister, Marian Fretschel; a brother, Joseph; two grandchildren, Katie Berger and Anne Wentzel.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Margaret on Thursday, May 10, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Jude Parish, Sacred Heart Catholic Church, corner of 6th Avenue and Knapp Street in Oshkosh. A time of visitation will be held at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery. Margaret was a resident of Elijah's Place in Oshkosh for two and a half years and then at nearby Bethel Home for the last four weeks of her life. Her children were particularly impressed with the care, concern and compassion of the staffs at both Elijah's Place and Bethel Home as they provided for their mother and her visitors. Her survivors wish to express their gratitude and thankfulness for the staff's devoted diligence. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the:
