Joseph Elmer Rupert age 79 of West South Street, Jackson passed away Tuesday, May 29, 2007 at the Holzer Medical Center of Jackson. He was born April 14, 1928 in Wellston, Ohio to the late John Thomas and Edith Carr Rupert. He was a 1942 graduate of Wellston High School and also graduated from Miami University with his Bachelorís Degree. Joe was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Wellston and attended the Grace United Methodist Church in Jackson. He was a retired Maintenance Supervisor for the Ohio State University and founder of Capital Maintenance & Coating, Inc. He was a member of the Masonic Bodies, American Legion Wellston Post #371 for 31 years, Kentucky Colonels, and a licensed pilot.
He is survived by wife Marva (Rice) Jenkins Rupert, stepson, Don (Cindy) Jenkins; stepdaughter, Sally (Greg) Fields; stepson-in law Kent (Brenda) Washam all of Jackson; sister, Mary Louise Rupert Perkins of Wellston; six step grandchildren, Kyle (Marty) Exline, Kristin (Josh) Mauer, Shelley (Jason) Brown, Braxton and Austin Jenkins, Morgan (Mandy) Washam and D.J. Washam and six step great grandchildren also survive.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by brothers, James Carr Rupert, John Rupert Jr., and Paul Eugene Rupert, stepdaughter Patty Jenkins Washum. Funeral services 1:00 Friday, June 1, 2007 at the Eisnaugle-Lewis Funeral Home with Rev. Wendell Vermillion officiating with burial to follow at the convenience of the family. Friends may call 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday May 31, 2007 at the funeral home. Masonic services will follow at 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
