Edgil C. Boggs, age 80, of Oak Hill, passed away Thursday, April 15, 2010 at Heartland of Jackson. He was born July 4, 1929, in Webbville, Kentucky. Edgil was the son of the late Daniel Sherman Boggs and Mary Elizabeth (Clark) Boggs. He was a graduate of South Webster High School and a former employee of Goodyear Atomic in Piketon, Ohio. He was a World War II veteran and an award winning expert marksman. Edgil was the founder of Boggs Pest Control, Inc.
Edgil was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Oak Hill where he served as a deacon for many years.
Surviving is his wife of 61 years, Neva Deane (Kotcamp) Boggs; a daughter, Sandra (Dale) Ginter of Shelby, Ohio; two sons, Steven (Regina) Boggs, and Jerry (Michelle) Boggs, of Oak Hill. Edgil is also survived by a son-in-law, Phillip McAfee, of California; two sisters, Rachel Kallner, of Minford and Sylvia Ross, of Jackson; also surviving are five grandchildren, Patrick (Leah) Boggs, Jerred, Kyle, Casey, and Cory Boggs, one great-grandson, Connor; sister-in-laws, Melba and Donna Boggs of Oak Hill, Gracie Kotcamp of New Carlisle, Ohio, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a daughter, Debra Boggs McAfee, and brothers, Eljay, Elton, Boyd, Vernon, and Gene Boggs. An infant brother, Bobby, and infant sister, Velma also preceded Edgil in death.
Funeral services will be held 11 am Monday, April 19, 2010 at the First Baptist Church, 13916 S.R. 279, Oak Hill, Ohio with Rev. Kenneth Leedy and Rev. Cline Rawlins officiating. Burial will follow in C.M. Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8 pm on Sunday, April 18, 2010 at the Kuhner-Lewis Funeral Home in Oak Hill.
