William (Bill) Canter, age 58 of Jackson passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, August 20, 2007 at Ohio State University Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio. Born September 7, 1948 in Columbus to James A. and Virginia (Loudermilk) Canter of Wellston. He served in the Viet Nam War and received 2 Purple Hearts.
In addition to his parents he is survived by his wife of 38 years, Judy M. (Swain) Canter of Jackson; one son, Paul “Billy” Canter and daughter-in-law, Tammy of Jackson; three daughters, Amanda (Mark) McCathren of McArthur, Kisha (Brent) Michael of Jackson and Whisper Canter of McArthur; five grandchildren, Alexis and Paul Canter II, Gage Michael, Marla Mae and Brady McCathren; one brother Robert Canter of Jackson, mother in law, Donna Jordan of Jackson and father in law Paul L. Swain of Minford; sisters in law Patricia Williams, Penny Landrum, Susan Canter, and Tammy Swain; brother in laws Eddie and Keith Swain and Dave Landrum also several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by infant daughter Marlene Canter.
Funeral service 1:00 p.m. Friday, August 24, 2007 at the Eisnaugle-Lewis Funeral Home with Elder Roger Chaney officiating burial to follow at Hanna Cemetery. Military graveside services will be conducted by the Disabled American Veterans Chapter #45 of Jackson, Ohio. Friends may call 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, August 23, 2007 at the funeral home.
