Mrs. Elizabeth A. Eternick “Betty”


Mrs. Betty Eternick, of Walters Street in Port Washington passed away peacefully at Heritage Nursing Home in Port Washington on Monday evening, December 13, 2004. She was 83 years old. Betty was born in Ashland, Wisconsin on August 13, 1921, daughter of William Lodle and Mary Riederer Lodle. She was united in marriage with Percy Eternick on May 28, 1946 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Port Washington. Betty worked as a nurse’s aid at the St. Alphonsus Hospital for many years. She is a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Port Washington, the Christian Women, Catholic Order of Foresters, and the Port Washington Senior Center. She enjoyed creating ceramic pieces, participated in writing classes and book clubs and was known for knitting double- layered socks and mittens that really kept the cold out. Betty is survived by her husband Percy of Port Washington, 3 sisters: Leone Furyk of Hurley, Helen (John) Hansen of Port Washington and Mary Jane Murphy of Belgium. She is further survived by brothers- and sisters-in-law: Laverne Mayer, Gerald (Betty) Eternick and Roger (Marcy) Eternick, all of Milwaukee, numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by an infant daughter, Marilyn, and 1 sister, Charlotte Valle. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, December 16, 2004 from the Eernisse Funeral Home (1600 W. Grand Ave., Port Washington) at 7PM going to St. Mary’s Catholic Church for Mass of Christian Burial at 7:30PM. Father Allan Sommer will officiate. Burial will take place the next day in the parish cemetery. The family will receive visitors at the Funeral Home Thursday from 5-7PM. The family suggests memorials be given to the charity of your choice in Betty’s name.
