Lewis F. Urry, age 77, of Eaton Township died Tuesday October 19, 2004 at Southwest General Hospital in Middleburg Heights following a short illness.
He was born in Pontypool, Ontario. He had resided in Eaton Township since 1992 moving from Columbia Station where he had lived 17 years.
Mr. Urry served as a Captain in the Canadian Army.
He received his bachelors degree from the University of Toronto in Chemical Engineering.
Mr. Urry was a chemical engineer for Energizer for 54 years retiring May 28th of this year.
He holds over 60 US patients in addition to numerous international patients, one of his most significant being for the first commercial alkaline battery. On August 25, 1999 he was inducted into the Smithsonian Institute for the Alkaline Battery.
Besides his passion for his work, he enjoyed vegetable gardening and spending time with his family and his pets.
He is survived by his two daughters, Mrs. Brad (Laurie) McCrillis of Olmsted Township, Kathleen Urry of Eaton Township, three sons, Gerald Urry of North Ridgeville, Michael (Renee) Urry of Avon Lake and Steven (Deanne) Urry of Olmsted Township, 15 grandchildren and 1 great grandson, two brothers, Russell Urry and Gerald Urry both of Toronto and one sister, Rowna Wilson of Saskatchewan, Canada.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Beverly Ann (nee Carlock), his twin sister, Lois DuTrizac, his father, Omon Urry and his mother, Ada Baum.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 12 noon until time of services at 1:00 PM in the David Bogner Family Funeral Home 36625 Center Ridge Road North Ridgeville. Reverend Bill Shomo will officiate. Private burial will take place in Butternut Ridge Cemetery, Eaton Township.
