Information On Merchandise

It is our desire at Day Funeral Home, Inc. that you have as much information as possible regarding the cost of services that we offer. The most significant factors determining cost is the time spent by us and the use of funeral home facilities. Our funeral home facility and staff must be available 24 hours a day, every day of the year. Much of what we do is apparent, some is not. Traditions, social customs, personal feeling, tastes, and a multitude of other factors affect each funeral. Our services must conform to each family's personal wishes; religious, emotional and financial needs.

Our fixed overhead expenses include: wages, taxes, building maintenance, capital improvements, office supplies, advertising, charitable contributions, utilities, telephone, hazardous waste disposal, yard maintenance, insurance-fire, theft, liability, auto, casualty, workmen's compensation, notary service, Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA) requirements. Operating Room, (preparation room) and specialized licenses and continuing education requirements. Inventory of caskets, urns, clothing and related funeral merchandise. Meeting with the family to secure vital statistic information, obtain Physician's signature, file of death certificate with the register of vital statistics. Obtaining all necessary permits for burial or cremation. Getting obituary information to newspapers requested by the family. Complete all necessary forms such as Veterans Benefits, Social Security Forms and Insurance Claims.
Coordinate times of the following services: Clergy, Cemetery, Crematory, Fraternal lodges or other organizations, military honors and others responsible for the final disposition of the deceased. Oversee all aspects of the funeral including, conducting the funeral services according to the family's wishes, staff available to supervise the funeral service and or visitation, give out funeral information to family associates, florist and friends, use of chapel, or equipment for church service as needed, arranging and care of flowers for best appearance. Complete cost, depreciation, maintenance and operation for hearse, family car, and service vehicle needed for the families we serve.

When comparing our prices with other funeral homes or mortuaries, one must be careful to evaluate like goods and services, as well as total price. Some funeral homes and mortuaries will give a perception of low cost by mentioning only "basic" service expense then "add on" other expenses for services most families desire and expect with funeral service. Some funeral homes and mortuaries will likewise "under price" their total service expense and then "over price" their merchandise (caskets and burial vaults). We encourage you to take the time to review the information on this page. Discuss any questions or concerns openly with family members, clergy, and your funeral director before making any final decisions. If you have other questions, feel free to call us at (620) 326-5111 or toll free 1-877-326-6100 or e-mail us directly just click here.
