Lilyan Jean Salveson
Resident of Redwood City
93, passed away on October 30, 2009. Born and raised in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Lilyan made her way to SF during WWII as a telephone operator. She met her husband, the late Capt. Edgar Salveson, and settled in Redwood City to raise her family. She was still baking pies and cooking meals for family gatherings.
Lilyan will be greatly missed by her children: the late Tom Salveson, Lorna Basso, Larry Salveson, Randy Salveson, Mary Dunlop, Joan Vreeburg, and Jim Salveson. Grandmother to Matt and Andy Salveson, Nick and Katie Basso, Colleen and Eric Salveson, Tim, Jon, and Ryan Salveson, Lily and Rachael Dunlop, and Sean and Holly Vreeburg. Great grandmother to Leif and Lewis Salveson, and Linnea and Tommy Salveson.
There will be a Memorial Mass on Saturday, Nov 7, 2009, 10am at St. Pius Church, 1100 Woodside Road, Redwood City, followed by coffee at Lilyan’s home. The family prefers donations to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
