Reynalda Velasquez, 107 years young, of San Carlos, California, died peacefully at her home surrounded by family. She was born in Cabos San Lucas, Mexico, on March 23, 1902. She graduated from high school in Mexico before coming to California at age 19. She was married to Albert Velasquez until his death in 1956 and never remarried.
She worked for MJB Coffee company in San Francisco for 20+ years as a packer and was also a member of SEIU and a union steward. She loved to gamble in South Lake Tahoe and played the nickel slots and KENO. She was also an avid cook, gardener and raised canaries. Her favorite flower was the rose. At parties she would get up and dance and did so into her 90's.
She is survived by her children Emma and Ernest Velasquez, her grandchildren Linda Velasquez, Anthony Alvarado, and Mary Wristen; her great-grandchildren Jenny Gudino, Julie Tuivailala, Matthew Wristen, Cassandra Bradley, Samantha Bradley; her great-great-grandchildren Gabriel Gudino Jr., Andrew Vanisi, Daniel Vanisi, Samuel Tuivailala, Katrina Tuivailala. A Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. with a 7 p.m. Rosary Service on October 26, 2009 at Crippen & Flynn Carlmont Chapel located at 1111 Alameda de las Pulgas in Belmont. Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on October 27, 2009 at St. Charles Church located at 880 Tamarack in San Carlos. If you wish to honor her memory please give to the Pacific Wildlife Project, P.O.
