Robert, 89, died peacefully with his family’s love surrounding him. His sweetheart and beloved wife of 64 years, Mary Jane by his side. They lived in San Carlos over 60 years, raising 4 daughters. In October 1939, Robert joined the US Navy at the age of 19. After 2 years he was stationed in the South Pacific on the Destroyer Henley (DD391) tied to a buoy in Pearl Harbor when it was attacked. He was a Pearl Harbor survivor, serving 9 ˝ years active duty for his country, achieving the rating of Chief Petty Officer, his specialty, Electricians Mate. He was a hero and a beloved father of Susan, Jeanne, Joanne, and Mary Beth, dearest grandpa to Chris, Paul, Anne-Marie, Robert, Anthony, Joseph, Helen & David, loving great-grandpa to Lawrence. Also survived by sister Charlotte and brother James Conley. Friends are invited to attend a Mass of Celebration beginning at 11:00 am on Wednesday, October 21 at St. Charles Catholic Church 880 Tamarack Ave. San Carlos, CA.
