Resident of Redwood City
Jose Cortez, Sr., born on May 5, 1927 in McAllen , Texas died peacefully at the age of 82 on Sept. 2, 2009. Jose was the oldest of 10 children born to parents Adelaido Cortez and Maria Quintanilla Cortez. He left behind his wife, Sugako Goto, to whom he was married for 58 years, and his children; Jose Jr., Mary, Frank, Phillip, and David. He was also blessed with 12 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
Jose enlisted in the Army and served 8 years of active duty. It was during this time he met his wife and began his family. He moved to Redwood City where he resided for 54 years. He was an avid fisherman and hunter and enjoyed telling stories of his adventures to his friends and family. Jose enjoyed retirement activities at the Senior Center taking monthly trips and exercise classes with his friends. He was grateful to family and friends for their support throughout the years. He will be truly missed.
A Memorial Service will be held Thursday, September 10, 2009 at 1:00 pm at Crippen & Flynn Woodside Chapel, Redwood City , Ca.
